To end the misery that has afflicted the human condition for thousands of years, you have to start with yourself and take responsibility for your inner state at any given moment. How to do that? Maxim, a writer, painter and musician, shares in this interview, conducted in his native Russian, his experience with finding a state of well being in any situation. Recent Events 4 April 2009: Sri Aurobindo's Arrival at Puducherry
Sri Aurobindo in Pondicherry
Sri Aurobindo came to Pondicherry on 4 April 1910 to pursue a spiritual goal - the goal of supramental transformation - never before successfully attempted by anyone. While engaged in the freedom struggle in Bengal, Sri Aurobindo received an Adesh (a Divine Command) to go to Pondicherry. In one of his letters to a disciple he wrote:
"Pondicherry is my place of retreat, my cave of tapasya, not of the ascetic kind, but of a brand of my own invention."
24 April 2009, Darshan Day: The Mother's Final Arrival at Puducherry
The Mother came to Puducherry for the first time in March 1914. She returned to France in 1915 and then went to Japan in 1916. She returned to Puducherry on 24 April 1920, never to leave again. On this significant date, the Mother once wrote to a disciple:
April 24: The anniversary of my return to Pondicherry, which was the tangible sign of the sure Victory over the adverse forces.
The 89th Anniversary of the Mother's final arrival in Pondicherry was celebrated on 24 April 2009. There was meditation around the Samadhi from 6:00 to 6:30 am and a visit to Sri Aurobindo's Room thereafter. The message card distributed on the occasion can be viewed by clicking here.

Teaching trough heart
Written by David & Anna
Wednesday, 29 April 2009
Education is a learning process. In many traditional education models, children are forced to learn solely by repetition and test taking. An atmosphere of pressure prevails at the same time with pressure on both the students and teachers to perform. In other systems, however, the emphasis is placed on what's happening inside of the children, teaching them how to connect to their heart and spirit. Children are encouraged to access their own inner voice and communicate from that deep place. Chris, an American teacher, who has taught in different schools in various countries around the world, discusses in the interview some of her experiences teaching with both traditional and alternative methods in oder to find a balance between them in the name of a child. “My name is Swamynathan. I studied in Kanchipuram, but I came to the village of Irumbai to work in the temple there, which is actually our family temple. I have been working there for the past four years performing puja. Irumbai temple is a very ancient one. It is said that long ago Thirunanna Sambanther came to this temple, singing a song regarding Kaduvali. In front of the temple there's a Banyan tree, where he had sat in meditation, as for the past year there had been no rain. During that time his only food was the leaves of the Banyan tree.” To download this program (in Tamil) click here.

Divine numbers
Written by Anna & Vera
Thursday, 23 April 2009
“I see music as a combination of numbers. The music harmony is a beauty of number sequence. You can't touch numbers. They are beyond the matter. The material world is based on number's canons. They are timeless and never-ending. Their harmony helps you to get out of the mental frame and feel the Divine.” Alexander Zhikharev, a Russian inventor of a unique musical instrument - the set of specially tuned plate bells, is sharing with us in the interview the source of his inspiration in Russian. “The more I live life, the more I play, it seems like I have so much to say, but then I have nothing.. I'm not here to become a master, I'm here to be present, be with people and enjoy life, be conscious in every single breath. Each breath we take is all we have. Until you get to that place of silence inside yourself you are not able to feel life. That's what music is all about, that's all about silence” - says Oliver Rajamani, a renowned world music artist from Tamil Nadu. He has created his own music by arranging traditional folk songs of the Middle East, European Roma, Spain, Africa, North America, and India chronicling their historic path and by adding new compositions not found anywhere else on the globe.
