Watch. @priyankagandhi's Hindi diction and steady pace of speaking with focused, logical flow is a rarity in politics. It's a didactic style, as distinct from the demagogic style that is common in mass politics

- If you are a Hindu and being called katua, jaichand and many other derogatory names for asking questions to the government.

-If you are a Sikh and being called a khalistani for asking questions and doing rightful protests.

- If you are a Christian and being called a rice bag convert for holding the government accountable.

- If you are a Muslim and being called a terrorist, Pakistani and had to face hate for no reason.

- If you are a responsible citizen who thinks criticising wrong doings of the government and asking questions is your right and being called a liberandu, urban naxal, anti national for exercising that right.

- Then it's your duty to defeat this hate filled atmosphere and show the venomous bhakts and their self obsessed master their rightful place through power of your vote.

A social psychology puzzle. Even after a decade in power, why are most bjp supporters so venomous even without provocation? Any difference of opinion brings out that venom with furious vigour. Bad for their health, really.

The Mother & Sri Aurobindo are the one Supreme Divine and are unrelated to any past system of mythology or philosophy. Even, their own writings and conversations don't adequately explain their divinity, but the faith and devotion of their followers has been a growing phenomenon.

I wouldn't go quite as far as Peter. Wittgenstein is worth reading, particularly his later works once he'd clearly distinguished his approach from the logical positivists. Here's how I relate to him:

1. Swami Karpatri Ji, Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati Ji, Mahaperiyava Shri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Ji, and you can add more…

2. Perennialist authors like Guénon

3. Swami Vivekananda Ji, and Shri Ramkrishna Paramhansa Ji (unlike what many presume here)

Failure to name one but the group represents a particular strand of thought.

Would add Sri Aurobindo as well to the last list.

Spiritual influences are too personal to mention but Sri Bamakhepa is very close to my heart. Heard his stories over and over from elders in family.

Instagram has ruined travel for me. None of the places I visit look as good as they do on Instagram. People filter the shit out of their photos, masking their flaws and inadvertently the flaws of the places they photograph. As a result, when I actually visit these locations, I end up disappointed... We no longer accept flaws—whether in people or places. We are exposed to the best versions of everything, which spoils the real versions for us.

I want to live in a city where I can go out at midnight and find a stranger to dance with. There's music played by an old man somewhere. Everyone joins in, and the bakery suddenly lights up because the lady decided to feed us food. There's a wonderful sense of community and joy.

Selective reading of Vivekananda’s valorisation of physical culture

For a recent rejoinder that argues against linking ‘the swami’ to subsequent right-wing politics and sees such exercise as ‘both reductive and dangerously misleading’, see Ruth Harris, Guru to the World: The Life and Legacy of Vivekananda (Cambridge, MA & London: The Belknap Press of Harvard University Press, 2022); at 4.

Antony Copley (New Delhi: Oxford University Press, 2003), 31–65, portrays a complex picture of reception of Vivekananda in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s cohorts, with reference to its own internal nuances and its key ideologues’ preferences. Thus, while the original argument of spiritual impoverishment and abstention from direct political activism relegate to the background, an idiom of emasculation and resultant search for certain cult of ‘manliness’ finds inspiration in selective reading of Vivekananda’s valorisation of physical culture. (The growing fixation with physical culture, however, was by no means a characteristic exclusively associated with Vivekananda, but was part of a far wider global history of the period with different cultural or regional manifestations.)

I'll close my discussion of Seth Zuihō Segall's The House We Live In by noting how its radical pragmatism undermines itself in practice – which, for pragmatists, is the place that matters.
